When the US government came out with its $1500.00 tax credit for utra-high efficiency heating-cooling equiment last March, most manufacturers treated those units as relatively exotic, and charged a premium for them. For instance, the furnace efficiency standard used to be 90-92%. 95%-efficient furnaces were available, but they were very pricey. Not many people bought them because the additional cost was not justified to save 2-5%.
But since the government rebates appeared, everyone now wants a 95% efficient furnace, and the manufacturers have responded by making that efficiency level their main line of equipment. What that has done is lower the price of the 95% efficient furnaces dramatically. Mass-production = lower cost, right? That has always been true, and it still is. So today the residential HVAC consumer has the best of both worlds: Ultra-high efficiency equipment that is priced very reasonably, plus they get a $1500.00 incentive from uncle Sam. That is an amazing situation that everyone should take advantage of right away, because this deal is too good to last!

Rebates, Rebates, Rebates

This is the first Air Control blog entry, and there is BIG news to tell.
For those of you that are new to us, we are a 23-year old heating-cooling-refrigeration company based in Spokane, WA. In our history, we have completed almost 4,000 installations, and about 1 zillion service calls. We are proud of the fact that we always respond to our customers--even on Christmas day or New Year's Eve.
But enough about us. Here is the news:
As homeowners, you have been given a great opportunity to get YOUR share of the $780 billion dollar stimulus thru federal tax rebates. Here is the deal: If you install a gas furnace of 95% or more efficiency, you will get a 1500.00 tax credit, up to a maximum of 30% of the job cost. This also applies to 15SEER Heat Pumps or 16SEER air conditioners. $1500 is not bad. But wait, there 's more!
If you live in the Avista utility service area, you can get a separate and additive incentive of up to $900 for a gas furnace/heat pump combo. Same job, additional money. But wait, there's more!
Depending on which furnace and/or heat pump you install, Trane/American Standard is offering Manufacturer rebates of up to $1,000.00. Yes, same job, additional money!
That's 3 rebates/incentive for the same job. Sounds too good to be true, right? But the reason it is real is because this is STIMULUS MONEY!!!. The government is trying to spread it around, and this is your chance to get your share of it. Plus will wind up also geting a very modern, low-cost heating-cooling system that will save you money every day for the next 20 years.
